gnucash wont load after OS update

I am using gnucash on a mac, OS El Capitan 10.11.6, Gnucash version
2.6.13-1. Yesterday my mac re started after a security update on the OS and
afterwards gnucash does not load, it gets halfway through loading then
":///users/keef/desktop/work accounts 2016.gnucash cannot be found". My
desktop has 12 files 'work accounts 2016 gnucash. series of numbers' and
logs so I do not understand why it wont find the file. I have tried using
the time machine to go back to desktop before the update but this doesn't
work either. I have also tried to download gnucash again but the same
problem exists.
 Is there any way I can get my accounts back?
