If I had my data set up in a similar way, I would have an "unbudgeted expense" account and just put them all there.  If I wanted to note that one was a "Cubs won" party, that would just go in the notes.

I'm new to gnucash, but I've read through the documentation and I haven'tseen a clean way of solving my issue. When constructing my monthly budget Iwant to leave some funds as "unbudgeted", since they range from paying foran impromptu dinner with friends to paying for new socks.Lets say I have an impromptu dinner with friends. This transaction goesinto an expenses:dining account. Additionally, every Tuesday I go to bartrivia and get dinner. This also goes into my expenses:dining account, butI'm expecting this transaction and can budget for it. However, gnucashreports these transactions together as they are part of the same account. Is there a way to tage transactions so that they are reported separately as"budgeted" and "unbudgeted". In the app I can add notes, but I don't thinkthey're maintained after a qif export as they don't show up in atransactions report or any of the register views. The closest solutions I've seen are to either create budgeted and unbudgetedsubaccounts in all my expense accounts, or budgeted and unbudgetedsuperaccounts (expenses:budgeted:dining), or create a custom report. Idon't fancy changing up my account tree, but if that's the most recommendedsolution I'll try it. Custom reports could also be the answer, I haven'tlooked into them as deeply because I wanted to check if there is an easiersolution first. --View this message in context: http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/Budgeting-Reporting-and-Tagging-tp4691390.htmlSent from the GnuCash - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com._______________________________________________gnucash-user mailing listgnucash-user at gnucash.orghttps://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user-----Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. You can do this by using Reply-To-List or Reply-All.
