[GNC] GnuCash freezes when saving in Windows

Scott,

Please remember to copy the list on all replies.

Yes, the bug report is only for 3.x, but the problem is as likely to be with Cairo than with Gtk itself and that’s common to both.

A better diagnostic is to get some stack traces, but that can be challenging on Windows. There are instructions at https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace <https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace>. (The best is profiling, but there aren’t usable tools for that on Windows in the build environment that GnuCash uses.)

Regards,
John Ralls

If it’s a slow save, see https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804 <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804>, though if it really happened when selecting a date then it’s probably something else. You could try running from the command line with the --debug option and analyze the trace files to see if there’s any consistency to where it hangs.
