That’s really weird. Can anyone with a windows box handy replicate it?

But if she clicks the Save icon, it does not freeze (this is GC v3.3, in Windows 10). Now she has saved the file many times in the latter manner, and it has not frozen at all.

There are instructions at https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace <https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace> <https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace <https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace>>. (The best is profiling, but there aren’t usable tools for that on Windows in the build environment that GnuCash uses.)

If it’s a slow save, see https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804 <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804> <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804 <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795804>>, though if it really happened when selecting a date then it’s probably something else. You could try running from the command line with the --debug option and analyze the trace files to see if there’s any consistency to where it hangs.
