[GNC] Chart of Accounts sort order in v3.2 - Help

Hi David,

Thank you for your prompt reply to my query.

I can add account codes and sort on them. However, that involves a certain amount of additional work which wasn’t necessary previously.

I just don't understand why I am now (with version 3.2) unable to retain the sort order in which the Accounts were originally entered (as I could previously using version 2.6.6).

Is this a bug or has the functionality been changed deliberately? Also, is it possible to download a version of GnuCash where the accounts can be listed in the original order.
e.g. version 2.6.6

Thank you for your help,

Alan.

I'd suggest using account codes to set your account order, and then add that column to your COA and support on it.

David

Hi,

I have been using GnuCash version 2.6.6, and in the Chart of Accounts view, when clicking in the 'Account Name' column heading it was possible to choose one of three sort orders for the Accounts:

1. Alphabetic ascending

2. Alphabetic descending

3. The order in which the Accounts were originally entered

I have always used no 3. The order in which the Accounts were originally entered

I have recently purchased a new laptop and have downloaded GnuCash version 3.2. It seems that there are now only two sort order options, Alphabetic ascending and descending.

Please would you let me know if it's possible to sort and display the Accounts in the order in which they were originally entered. Alternatively, is it possible to download a version of GnuCash where this is possible?

I am sorry to have to contact you about this but I have searched for a solution but have not been successful,

Many thanks,

Alan Maddocks
