[GNC] Splash Screen and Tips flash on then disappear

I installed GnuCash on Windows 10 pro and when I start the program the splash screen comes up for less than ¼ second then disappears.  The Tips window then shows up for about the same length of time and disappears.  If I try to show the Tip of the Day from the help menu nothing happens.  I have upgraded to Windows 11 and the same thing happens.  I have also uninstalled the program and re-installed it with no change.  Has anybody seen this and is there some kind of fix?
