[GNC] GC 3.11 crashes during "Check & Repair"

If you do not want to upgrade your live env, may I suggest combination of
VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/), Vagrant
(https://www.vagrantup.com/) and Vagrant Cloud
(https://app.vagrantup.com/boxes/search) to fetch pre-build "boxes"?

This combo works on any OS but If you are on Windows systems, you can
download another Windows version and work on it for 30 days without needing
a license. Discard the Vagrant instance after you are done...

Be warned about malware that you have your virus protection regime up to
date. While Vagrant boxes are from trust worthy authors, don't lower your
malware/virus surveillance guard for anything.

Try the following to get more information.
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Logging
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Tracefile
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Windows_Debugging
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace
Without more information no-one is going to be able to help much. Also
search
the archive from around the 3.0 release date.

Hopefully you kept a backup of your original file before running 3.8 and
only
ran 3.8 on a copy?
