[GNC] Postgresql is not available as an option on "Save As"

I am seeking guidance on using postgresql as a data store for gnucash. When
I attempt to select postgresql  under" Save As" , it does not appear as an
option. I have installed gnucash from binaries on Ubuntu 21.10, and the
only option there is "xml" . On a separate Ubuntu 21.10 machine I built
gnucash from source, and the only options there are xml and sqlite3.

Is there a separate setting somewhere to enable postgresql or am I mising
something else?
