Assuming the full purchase transaction has shown on your till rolls / bank 
statements etc, I would record the customer payment as a split between 
income:commission and Liability:artist   (you could split that further into 
each artist, if there are several)

then when you pay the artist their fee, reduce the liability account.

0.02, not an accountant and your local rules may have soemthing to say on the 
matter!
