how to delete a data file and to move data file on Mac

The names of the files that appear in the menu are stored somewhere in gconf files. That their names appear in the gnucash file menu does not guarantee that the files exist, only that you used those files with gnucash more recently than some number of other files.

A file that already exists: drag it to the new folder in the Finder. Use File->Open in gnucash to open it.

A new file: Save As...
